Cleaning your Reusable Straw (at home, out & about and for cafe's)

Turns out there are few different ways to clean your reusable straws & each to their own right. But to us there is not one way better way the other. There maybe a easier way for some or a more preferred way for a specific use but as we say each to their own.

In this blog we are going to info dump to show you not only the different kind of ways to clean reusable straws, but the "on the go" ways as well because some times you don't have access to dishwashers and hot soapy water.

What it comes down to, is whatever suits you and is more convenient to you as the end user.

Standard at home metal straws, glass, silicone straws cleaning for no pulp juice, soda, alcoholic drinks, water (clean liquids)

  1. Use tap water to rinse, hold the straw opening to the tap and rinse through. Then rinse outside.
  2. If needed you may put any SUCKITUPstraws Metal, Silicone or glass through the dishwasher (glass take extra caution obviously). These need to be stood upright in the utensils caddy in the dishwasher.
  3. Air dry.

  2. Water rinse out, hold the straw opening to the tap and rinse through. Then rinse outside.
  3. Grab the pull through brush and using the soapy water pull through the straw, cleaning and scrubbing the straw. With bent straws do this from both ends
  4. Hold up to light to ensure the inside of the straw is clean and free from baked on pulp etc.

 Tearaway Straws

With our tearaway straws you get the extra bonus of opening them up for a good look to make sure every nook and cranny is clean. You can clean any of our straws (maybe not the glass) with a good boil as well. Remember the stainless steel 304 grade is surgical so with a good boil you can sterilize the silicone ones just as good.

  1. Boil a pot of hot water and put the tearaway straw in , this will get rid of any residue from your previous drink.
  2. Like the video below watch the straws split
  3. If you don't want to boil you can split the straws apart and then
  4. Scrub the straw Add dish soap to your straw brush, then push it into your straw and scrub it vigorously with cleaning brush. Because of the split no need to do clean both ends like you need to with other straws
  5. Rinse
  6. After the Rinse Run the straw under hot water for another minute to flush out any remaining soap or baking soda.
